Campaigning for change

Social Policy – Influencing Debates and Policy and Campaigning for Change

Many clients come to Citizens Advice to seek advice in dealing with a problem and often the cause of their problem is an unfair policy, practice or piece of legislation.

The number of clients we work with each year makes it possible to spot trends and comment with authority on the strengths and weaknesses of different policies. In fact we see it as our responsibility.

We run national and also local campaigns as sometimes issues are very particular to a region or town for example employment practices or delivery of local community services.

In Cheshire East we have been involved on campaigns to raise awareness on Payday Loans and the Big Energy week and at a national level CAB have been collecting evidence and lobbying government on the changes to the welfare system including universal credit and Employment support allowance.

You can find out more about our national campaign successes on the Citizens Advice website at:- http://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/index/campaigns.htm
